“Shake and Bake”

 

Text:     1 Pet.3: 4-14; Is.2: 10-12,17-21

Intro.:All ladies have probably heard of and used “Shake and Bake.”  Well the day is coming when God Himself is going to “Shake and Bake.”  It won’t be for the purpose of fixing a nice meal, but rather it will be for the purpose of judging the earth’s inhabitants and Satan’s heavenly host.

The earth is even now beginning to “shake” with more and more earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, volcanic eruptions and wars than ever before as the day of the great Shaking draws nigh.  This will be the most fearful event that has ever occurred as the heavens and earth begin to shake and you realize there is no safe place to plant your feet.

 

A)                The Time of the Shaking and Baking:

F)                 Rev.6:13-17

The shaking will come during the Tribulation, just before the Lord appears to fight against the Nations at the Battle of Armageddon.  Fire is associated with the 2nd coming (Na.1: 5; 2 Thes.1: 7-10). But this is not the “Baking” to which we refer.  The “Baking” occurs 1000 yrs. later.  This is just the “Pre-heating” of the oven!

2)                  The Time of the Baking:

2 Pet.3: 4-14 cf Rev.20: 9-11 – The Baking will come at the end of the Millenium when Satan comes back up out of the bottomless pit and stirs up a revolt against God.  Then God destroys heaven and earth!!

 

B)        The Purpose of the Shaking and Baking:

1)         The Purpose of the Shaking:

A)                To exalt the Lord as King of kings and Lord of lords (Is.2: 11,17).

B)                 To humble the proud and lofty (Is.2: 11-17).

C)                To punish the host of Satan and the kings of the earth (Is.24: 20-21; Rev.6:15-17).

D)                To rescue Israel from destruction (Joel 3:16; Mt.24:29-31).

E)                 To establish His kingdom (Is.24: 23; Hag.2: 7).

2)         The Purpose of the Baking:

A)                To overthrow the rebellion of Satan and lost mankind (Rev.20: 7-10).

B)                 To purge the heavens and earth of the defilement of sin (2 Pet.3: 13).

C)                To usher in a new heaven, a new earth and a new city (2 Pet.3: 13; Rev.21:1-2).

 

C)        The Results of the Shaking and Baking:

1)         The Results of the Shaking:                                                                       

                                  A)                The Lord will rule from Jerusalem (Is.2: 2-4).

                                  B)                 Satan’s rule and claim to earth will be taken away (Rev.20: 1-3).

                                  C)                There will finally be peace on earth (Is.35: 10).

D)                The Church will enjoy her honeymoon with her Bridegroom and rule and reign for 1000 yrs! (Rev.20: 6).

2)         The Results of the Baking:

A)                Satan will again be loosed out of the pit and God will then “Bake” the heavens and the earth!

B)                 The Lord will then make all things new! (Rev.21: 5 - New Heaven, Earth, Jerusalem, People, Temple, Light, Paradise).

C)                There will be no more curse, sin, rebellion or terrorist attacks!! PTL!!

 

D)        The Response to the Shaking and Baking:

1)         God has “shaken” the earth before: (He will shake heaven and earth during Trib.!)

A)                At Noah’s Flood – Earth shook with fear of judgment as well as with volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, waves and rain.

B)                 At Mt. Sinai – Heb.12: 25-26, “See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven; Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.  And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.” Earth shook with fear of the Law and the presence of the Lord.

C)                At Mt. Calvary – Mt.27: 51,54 - Earth shook with fear as Creator died.

At 2nd Coming Heaven and Earth shall shake with fear at the Judgment and at the presence of the Great God coming in wrath. In light of the destruction of all things we ought to be holy people and be diligent that we may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless!!

2)         God has never “burnt” the earth before –  BUT   He will!!

Where will you be when the earth is on fire?!! If you’re not saved, you’ll have no place to hide  and you will end up facing the vengeance of eternal fire!!

You need to find a refuge now before it’s “Shake and Bake” time!!

 

 

Conclusion:   

There are 4 Unshakable Things that cannot be moved!

1)                  God’s Throne                           –          Lk.1: 32-33

2)                  God’s Word                                         –          Ps.119: 89

3)                  God’s Church                           –          Mt.16: 18

4)                  God’s Child                                          –          Jn.10: 27-30; 3: 36; 5: 24; Ro.8: 33-39

You would be wise to hide in these 4 Unshakable Things before it’s too late and you’re crying out to the rocks and the mountains to hide you from the face of Him that sitteth on the throne!!
